São Paulo Restaurants

I thought I would keep an on-going summary, all-in-one post about restaurants in Sao Paulo that I like. It's always about the food! Recommendations are always welcome.

Jardins/Augusta
Sushi Guen - very traditional japanese, hole-in-the-wall restaurant
Lanchonese da Cidade - burgers and fries, and a mean milkshake
Paris 6 - 24 hour restaurant where all the chefs go after their restaurants close for the night
St Etienne - 24 hour padaria, a fave spot for a coffee or juice and watching the world go by. cnr or Lorena and Joaquim Eugenio
Veridiana - favourite pizza restaurant
Aizome - high end traditional japanese, raw scallop was exceptional
Madhu  - takeaway indian,  fast and cheap (relatively speaking) though ask for some chilli
St Louis - i know it's a burger restaurant but the ribs are awesome, unfortunately we only discovered them the day before we moved from Jardins
7 Molinos - for breakfast / brunch or a very light lunch (soups, fresh bread, salads)
Dalva & Dito - Alex Atala's home cooking restaurant. Once a month he prepares a classic home cooked meal which is served from midnight to 3am.

Liberdade/ Pariso
Rong He Noodle Shop - freshly made noodles, cheap, expect to queue or order delivery!
Restaurante Jardim Meio Hectare  - picked up frozen dumplings for my freezer, veggie ones are fab.
Lua Palace - all the Koreans head to this korean bbq restaurant, closes early so make sure to call ahead
Wan Wan - hole in the wall dimsim
Tea Station - bubble tea

Higienopolis
Rota do Acarajé - super traditional Bahian, have the Bobo de Camarão or Moqueca. The chilli here is awesome!

Itaim / Moema
Due Cuochi Cucina - amazing amazing pasta, enjoy a glass (or bottle) or wine while you wait for your table. There is  a restaurant in Shopping Cidade Jardim too.
Nagayama- one of the older Japanese restaurants here. Very cool.
La Mar - peruvian restaurant, ceviche is a must and can't wait until I can have a Pisco Sour
Ping Pong  - I would've never gone to a PP in London but it does fine to satisfy any dimsum cravings you might have. They have rodizio "Lazy Sumdays" every Sunday. R75 per person.
Hecho em Mexico - a taqueria with some real hot sauce! Tacos and burritos are pretty decent
Huto - Japanese and truffle oil, mmm!

Pinheiros / Vila Madalena
Las Chicas - trendy brunch spot by the same Carla Pernambuco of the famed Carlota Resturant which I still need to try (hint hint Tim!)
Sushi Zeni  on Rua Delfina - Rodizio sushi
Boteca de Cesinha - Rua Delfina 66
Santa Gula - noveau brazilian, afraid I always have the same here - prawns on a bed of artichoke risotto, delish!
Pitanga - a carioca restaurant, tables on the pavement, great atmosphere
El Guaton - a true chilean restaurant, hole in the wall
AK Vila - this chef has won lots of awards. I had lamb shank on creamy polenta, big and comforting on a rainy day

Bixiga
Cantina Roperto - old school italian

Other
Govinda - expensive Indian in Berrini but worth it if you are desperate for a curry hit
Mocotó - Top restaurant in Sao Paulo and the chef Rodrigo Oliveira's Caldo de Mocoto is worth the drive. North Eastern Brazilian food. Go very early for weekend lunch as queues can be ridiculous.
Restaurant Natural com Arte - in a private home in Embu. A special treat.
